So for the last little while I’ve been thinking about getting back into blogging again. But between you, me and the gatepost I’ve been a bit anxious about it. *screws up nose*
My mind kept thinking that I should only blog if I have a sexy website. And adorable photos. And a super cool tagline that’s just the right amount of hipster-cute.
And my heart would go, “but’s that’s not me.” I’m a bit messy and unpredictable and emotional and I have trouble turning the TV on let alone making a website work! Continue reading
Last weekend I did something I hadn’t done for a long time. I made ME my priority for three whole days (!) and took myself off to a health retreat.
You see a few months ago I was having a bit of rough time with the old head space and decided to book myself into a health retreat to look after me for a little while.
A few people have asked me how I found the retreat. I literally Googled “retreat” and “Brisbane” and Renew Health Retreat came up in my search. Price point, location and timing were all on point so I made the call and hey presto, a few months later I was packing my bags and off.
I’m not going to go into the specifics of what happened on the retreat but as the three days came to a close I can 100% tell you that it was just what my soul needed. I also met some really rad people and making those connections was a delight.
I took some photos while I was there. It was such a pretty and tranquil spot, it was hard to take a bad photo.
The retreat I went to was held here, Glasshouse Mountains EcoLodge.
I stayed in a lovely little room by myself. It had all the essential things. Following our meditation in the evening I seriously had two nights of the BEST uninterrupted sleep I have had in THREE YEARS!
I did yoga outside and would look up to the sky and into this tree canopy. There really needs to be more outdoor yoga I think.
I had a massage and had all my energy pathways cleared. I don’t have a photo of that but here is a little fairy I found in the fruit orchard.
I looked up to this big guy, Mount Tibrogargan, every chance I got and walked around him very early each morning.
As I mentioned, I went bush walking and saw some ace stuff. The only problem with bushwalking is that you have to keep your eyes on the path because you know, it’s the bush. So you have to remember to keep stopping and looking around. That’s not really a problem though is it?
I did a cooking class with the awesome Ashley from The Kitchen Coach. Food really is my thing and I think Ash is my spirit animal. I could have talked about fermentation and problems with teflon with her for ages.
And I ate some ahmahzing food.
As a mum I know I don’t put myself or my priorities first as much as I probably should. It’s always about the girls or family or hubby or the house… It took me some time while I was away to relax and know it was ok to do this. A big thank you to Jaye and Jen for helping me see that I really should do things for me more often – at least one joyful “me” thing a day. Today it is writing this post.

I received a copy of Jamie Oliver’s Everyday Super Food cook book for Christmas last year. I haven’t used it all that much but am planning to sit down this afternoon and bookmark a couple of recipes to try out on the family over the next week or so.

So I’m doing a bit of an online writing course at the moment. It is pretty amazing and it is also why I’m tapping out posts daily. I’m trying to you know, learn the stuff. The course is called Blog Magic and the ever so delightful Pip from Meet Me At Mikes is my teacher. She’s one of my online mentors and a lady I look up to as an ace example of a human being.
